Location: southern Poland, Silesian Voivodeship; Sosnowiec is situated in the Silesian Highland, in the south-eastern part of the coal basin on rivers Brynica, Czarna Przemsza and Biała Przemsza. It borders Katowice, Będzin, Czeladź, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Sławków, Jaworzno and Mysłowice.

Direct railway connections: Sosnowiec has two railway stations and five railway stops which provide ample access to domestic and international connections: Warsaw, Kielce, Częstochowa, Katowice, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Kraków, Zakopane, Ostrava, Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest. One of Sosnowiec's greatest strenghts and a unique transportation feature is the direct proximity of the town of Sławków – the terminal of the wide-gauge railway line (Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa) from the Ukrainian border. The line can be used to transport cargo as well as TIR lorries for the purpose of commercial exchange with Ukraine and Russia. Sławków's role as a transit hub will grow after the completion of the EUROTERMINAL and the International Logistics Centre which will provide support services for cargo exchange between Europe and the Far East, and when the railway line with the Trans-Siberian Line becomes a part of the Eurasian transport corridor which will have a 14 days' shipping advantage over alternative sea ro
