Lesznowola
The Lesznowola Commune lies in the immediate vicinity of Warsaw, bordering western limits of the city. The commune has been undergoing a dynamic development due to its several advantages, such as the proximity of the capital, convenient communication routes, attractive investment areas and a comprehensive technical and social infrastructure. The area of the commune is 69 sq km and its population is over 14,000. Average budget income per inhabitant is very high, this year's amount will exceed 6,300 zlotys. Lesznowola has over 3,000 registered businesses.
The commune belongs to few in Poland that boast the most comprehensive site planning. Recently passed plans consider the development of diversified apartment and residential districts, single and multifamily housing, sports and recreational areas and various environment-friendly businesses.
Each year Lesznowola directs significant resources to the development of technical infrastructure. As a result the commune is currently 100% water-supplied and 75% sewered. The commune has also been effective in acquiring financial support from external sources (including SAPARD and the World Bank). We also take advantage of preferential loan schemes encompassing a 50% write-off, mainly for environmental projects.
Since 1999, Lesznowola Commune has ranked in the lead of the Golden Top Hundred Local Authorities every year, winning the title of the "Sustainable Development Champion". It also won the domestic ranking "Professional Commune Friendly to Investors" for the most effective financial management and development.
In 2004, the commune received the "Local Governance Leader" certificate and the title of "Mazowsze Environmental Leader". In October 2005, Lesznowola was awarded the title of "Fair Play Commune 2005 - Certified Investment Location", a mention and the title of "Golden Business Location". In 2004, it was presented with the "Fair Play Commune 2004" title and statuette and the "Golden Laurel" of Local Education title in a contest held by the Foundation for Local Democracy and Wspólnota biweekly.
In December 2005, Lesznowola won the first place in the "Commune Friendly to Education" contest and a mention in the "Golden Opportunity Land" competition. In December 2005, the Chapter of the Second National Contest selected the Best Local Officer of the Year 2005 from among Polish local officers in county, municipal and commune categories. The title of Best Local Officer of the Year 2005 in the commune category went to Maria Jolanta Batycka-Wąsik – Lesznowola Commune Administrator.
